aerial photograph of Church of St Thomas BecketChapel-en-le-Frith Derbyshire UK. The Grade II listed Church of St Thomas Becket can trace its origins back to a Norman Church built on this site. The Norman Church was replaced with a new church in the 14th century and this has been rebuilt and modified in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries but still retains some of its 14th century features. During the English Civil War Royalist prisoners from the Scottish Army who were captured at Preston were imprisoned in the Church. 40 of the prisoners died and are buried in the Church Graveyard.
