aerial photograph of Wolverhampton railway station, West Midlands UK. Wolverhampton station was built by the Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Stour Valley Railway and opened in 1852. In 1854 the Wolverhampton Low Level station was opened behind it by the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway (OWWR). The Low Level station was the most northerly broad-gauge station on the GWR network and was partially designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The High Level station was rebuilt between 1964 and 1967, following which the low level station was no longer needed and was converted to a parcels depot in 1970. The site was recently redeveloped but the main station building was preserved as part of the new mixed use development.
