Christ Church was built in the 14th century and is all that remains of a Franciscan friary which was founded AD 1234. The Friary was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1538 but fortunately the spire survived. A new church was built around the medieval spire in the 19th century but was destroyed in the Coventry Blitz on the night of 8th April 1941. The medieval spire survived and is now grade II listed.
