aerial photograph of The Magazine Gateway Leicester UK. Today its sits incongruously in the middle of modern inner ring-road but in the 15th century the Magazine Gateway was the main entrance into the walled city of Leicester and an important part of the cities defences. The building was constructed around 1400 and was used for munitions storage during the English civil war which gave rise to its name. Today the building is protected with Grade I listing.
